HNtec in Mechanical Engineering
Class of 2015
Tell us why you chose to do this course?
Since I was a child I was fascinated by the operation of mechanical devices and systems. So with the support and encouragement of my parents I decided to enroll in HNTec in Mechanical Engineering at IBTE. I was never worried about the fact that engineering is a male dominated field, I was just very determined to learn all that I could about this field. From the time I started the course I knew that it was the right one for me because it gave me the opportunity to learn about tools and how to use them correctly; and about various types of equipment and machinery.
What have you gained from your experience at IBTE?
I gained knowledge and confidence from the two years that I spent at IBTE. All of my instructors motivated me and even though at times I found Mechanical Rotating to be a bit challenging, my lecturer Ms. Roziaty was willing to spend the time to patiently explain to me and to encourage me to keep on trying. At IBTE I also got the chance to get work experience at various companies and this was beneficial because I was able to learn from different experts in the field of engineering. I really enjoyed doing my course at IBTE and am very grateful for all that I learnt and for all of the experience that I gained while there – because of this, I will continue to be eager to learn and understand more about process plants and control engineering. I would like to encourage other students to consider doing courses at IBTE because there they will get the right balance of knowledge and hands on experience.
How do you intend to use your skills in the future?
My hope is to work for a company like Brunei Shell Petroleum because I will be able to learn more from the people who work there and I will also be able to contribute my knowledge and skills to help improve the company.
