Permanent Secretary (upstream) at Energy Department
Prime Minister Office
As the newly appointed Permanent Secretary (upstream) of the Energy Department Hjh Rosmawatty has been given a challenging and specific goal: to provide ‘sustainable energy for Brunei Darussalam’s prosperity’, a mandate which was outlined in the recently announced Energy White Paper.
As straightforward as this may seem, it is perhaps one of the most difficult jobs in Brunei today. A job which not only requires her vision and experience, but also requires absolute discipline, commitment and collaboration-with the Oil and Gas industry and various other Ministries. One of her strategies: to introduce the best practices from the private sector to her department. “Alignment is the key”, expressed Hjh Rosmawatty with quiet confidence.
There is every reason why Hjh Rosmawatty was the ‘Chosen-One’ for this job. She was the first female manager in Brunei Shell Petroleum, the first female director of BSP and she was also the first female member to join the ranks of the senior leadership team at both BSP and Shell Asia Pacific.
In 2008, Hjh Rosmawatty was also one of eight local female leaders to receive honours for her exceptional achievements at the Asia Inc Forum’s Women Achievers Awards Ceremony.
Oil and gas is only part of the big picture for the prosperity of the country’s sustainable energy. Already, Hjh Rosmawatty and her teams are setting their sights on the future by focusing on Energy Efficiency & Conservation and Renewable energy programs which will keep the country striving towards sustainability in this area.
