In a vocation that demands physical prowess and possibly having to sacrifice your life to save that of a stranger’s- this lady demonstrates both courage and leadership. Dayang Hajah Siti Mayang binti Haji Hussin has managed to successfully climb up the ladder to get to the top of a field that is considered to be male dominated.
She was the first senior woman officer in BFRD to hold the position of Deputy Director of Training, Planning and Personnel, the highest position ever achieved by any woman officer. She supervises 150 BFRD staff, ensuring that they meet the highest standards when it comes to dealing with life and death situations.
Her achievements in this area speaks volumes about her determination to succeed. Having joined the department in 1997, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Administration and attended a course at the Singapore Civil Defence Force Academy which she passed with flying colours. Hajah Siti Mayang proves that women have what it takes to excel in any sphere of work.
