Datin Paduka Tan Bee Yong has been an exemplary diplomat throughout her entire career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. She is highly respected in her Department for contributing to the strategy and vision which has enhanced Brunei’s international diplomatic relations and has led to agreements which further our country’s development and prosperity.
Datin Tan served as the Governor of Brunei Darussalam to the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) from September 2002 to May 2005. At the same time, she was also appointed as the Non-Resident Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway from 2003 to 2008. By 2010, Datin Tan was appointed as the Deputy Permanent Secretary and by December 2011, she was promoted to Permanent Secretary, a position she still holds on to this day. Datin Tan is also the current NonResident High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to New Zealand since 2008.
Despite her commitment to her work, Datin Tan makes her family one of her top priorities.
