Datin Paduka Masni is a woman with many responsibilities. In the interest of this summary, we simplified her portfolio into three main parts: her national and international NGO responsibilities; her role with the anti-drug movement, BASMIDA; and other health-related roles.

As the President of ACWO, Vice President of CWNBD and Life Vice President of the Girl Guides Association in Brunei- her fundamental role is to encourage women to realise their economic, social and political potential, within the society and the country.

As the President of BASMIDA since 1986, Datin Paduka Masni’s mandate has been to steer youth away from drugs. This is indeed a tough challenge, when you consider that youth make up half of Brunei’s population. As a Board member of the World Forum Against Drugs in Sweden, Datin Masni plays an active role in opposing moves by some countries to legalise marijuana and other ‘soft drugs’.

Other issues which Datin Paduka Masni has been actively involved in promoting include breast feeding for babies, instilling the value of planting flowers and herbs for health consumption, and encouraging women to step up in SMEs.
